Youth Dance

Empowering the Next Generation of Classical Indian Dance

Founded in 2008, Drishti Dance launched its youth program in Reading in 2012. Since then, Drishti has expanded across the region with vibrant dance centres in Oxford and Slough. Drishti’s youth cohort is its pride and joy. As pioneers in the field, Drishti was one of the first classical Indian youth dance groups to represent the South East region at the National U.Dance festival (2018, 2019, and 2022). More recently, Drishti’s talented dancers took the stage at The Place’s prestigious Fresh platform in 2023.

At Drishti Dance, students do more than master technique and traditional vocabulary. They learn to translate the language of movement, confidently pushing classical boundaries into contemporary spaces. Drishti’s students consistently achieve excellence on the national stage. They have represented the ISTD’s Classical Indian Dance Faculty in the Bursary Award competition and have earned coveted spots with Yuva Gati (the National Center for Advanced Training in South Asian Dance).

Workshops

Apart from regular classes, Drishti also conducts workshops for both taster and intensive at local institutions, community events and schools in and around Reading.

Drishti Dance has conducted workshops in numerous schools, including Henley College, Theale Green Community School, Eynsham Primary School, Whitney, Oxfordshire, Falkland Primary School, Newbury, Downsway Primary School, Tilehurst, The Hill Primary School, Reading, and Whitelands Park Primary School Thatcham.
